A Huge Congratulations to Sensei Ben Chase – JKS 3rd Dan Black Belt!

Updated: 2 days ago
Kaizen No-Michi School of Shotokan Karate is incredibly proud to congratulate instructor Ben Chase on successfully achieving his 3rd Dan Black Belt!
This is a significant milestone in Ben’s karate journey, reflecting years of dedication, commitment, hard work and a determination to continually improve.
Ben undertook his Dan grading in front of JKS England Chief Instructor Alan Campbell Sensei, 8th Dan, and a panel of senior JKS instructors. The examination required him to demonstrate his ability across a range of kata (formal patterns of techniques) and kumite (sparring), testing his technical ability, understanding, composure and spirit.
Ben rose to the challenge and impressed the senior grading panel with his performance, earning the prestigious 3rd Dan Black Belt. Following the examination, Alan Campbell Sensei made a particularly complimentary remark about the standard of Ben’s performance on the day — recognition that makes this achievement even more special.
The grading followed a three-hour masterclass led by Takuya Makita Sensei, 6th Dan, a senior instructor at the JKS Japan Honbu Dojo in Tokyo and Deputy Secretary General of the Japan Karate Shoto Federation. The opportunity to train under such an experienced Japanese instructor made this a memorable occasion for everyone involved.
At Kaizen No-Michi, we believe that a black belt is not the end of the journey. It represents another stage in a lifelong commitment to learning, teaching and self-improvement.
Ben’s achievement reflects the spirit of Kaizen — constant and never-ending improvement — and the values we strive to uphold in our dojos in Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
Congratulations, Sensei Ben! Your achievement is thoroughly deserved, and we look forward to seeing you continue to develop as a karateka, instructor and role model for our students.
