There was a fantastic atmosphere at Kaizen No-Michi's Grimsby Dojo at Ormiston Maritime Academy on Saturday 11th July as students came together for a special Karate Training and Kyu Grading Day, held by Sensei Steve Carless.

The celebrations continued into the Monday and Wednesday evening Karate Tigers classes, where gradings were held by Kaizen No-Michi Chief Instructor Andy Jones 5th Dan. A big thank you also goes to Instructor Ben Chase 2nd Dan for running classes alongside the Tigers grading event and helping to keep everything flowing smoothly throughout the week.

Despite the soaring temperatures, everyone gave their all throughout the day, demonstrating the determination and spirit that make our karate community so special.

Learning New Skills

The training session focused on grappling techniques, giving students the opportunity to explore the close-range applications of karate and develop a deeper understanding of practical self-defence. Sensei Steve's wealth of knowledge and engaging teaching style ensured that everyone, regardless of grade or experience, came away having learned something new.

To round off the session, students were treated to a challenging series of core-strengthening exercises. As always, Sensei Steve made every exercise look effortless—although there were plenty of tired smiles around the dojo by the end! 💪😅

Congratulations to Everyone Who Graded

Following the training, students took part in their Kyu grading, showcasing the skills they have worked so hard to develop over recent months.

Every grading was approached with focus, discipline, and determination, with students demonstrating strong technique, positive spirit, and a willingness to challenge themselves. It was wonderful to see so much progress across all grades.

Congratulations to everyone who successfully achieved their next belt. Your hard work, commitment, and perseverance have paid off, and you should all be incredibly proud of what you have achieved.
